Syfy is a television network currently owned by Versant (a media company created in January 2026 as the new owner of most of NBCUniversal’s television networks). It was previously owned by Paramount Pictures/Viacom from 1992 (its launch year) to 1997. It previously broadcast some of the series in the Star Trek franchise. Its primary purpose as a television network is to show programming within the science fiction genre. In 2026, the television network changed ownership to a media company known as Versant.
