
CNET sometimes labeled as c|net and formerly known as Computer Network, is a website that posts reviews, news, blogs, and video coverage on technology and electronics. CNET was founded in 1994 by Halsey Minor and Shelby Bonnie. Before being acquired by CBS in 2008, c|net was acquired by mySimon in January 2000 and c|net would also acquire many assets throughout the next few years. In October 2000, c|net acquired ZDNet which evolved into an enterprise software. In 2001, c|net acquired TechRepublic from Gartner Inc. In 2004, c|net acquired Webshots but was sold to American Greetings in 2007. The following year, c|net acquired Metacritic. In May 2008,CBS bought c|net for 1.8 billion and became a part of CBS Interactive.
On September 14, 2020, CNET was sold to Red Ventures for $500 million. The deal was completed on October 30.
